Re-learn Your Smoking Triggers
How to handle stressful situations without a cigarette...
1. Remove yourself from any situation that's making you want to smoke. Just get up and excuse yourself for a minute.
2. If you're unable to leave, take a few calming breaths and simply pretend you're somewhere else. Tahiti is really nice all year round, so go there in your mind and wait five minutes to smoke "when you get back." By not automatically lighting up at the first sign of stress, you'll start to break the "glue" between stress and smoking.
3. While you're wait to have that cigarette, remind yourself of this fact: Having that cigarette will not actually do ANYTHING to relieve your stress. It won't do a THING about the real problem. So as you're waiting, think about what else you can do to actually solve the REAL problem.
4. And here's something else that can help you get through a stressful situation. Click the image on the right - you know what they say to do when stressed at a meeting?
