Re-learn Your Smoking Triggers
How to drive without cigarettes...
1. Break your normal routine. Put the keys in the ignition but don't automatically start smoking. Just take a deep breath. Drive away, and in five minutes, THEN you can have a cigarette.2. The next time you're behind the wheel, try waiting until the END of your drive to have a cigarette. If you're gonna turn on the radio, change that routine as well. Put on a new station for a few days.
3. Try putting an air freshener in your car or have the car cleaned. Maybe having that nice new-car smell will make driving less of a smoking trigger.
4. If you're stuck in traffic, do something else with your hands. Dashboard drumming, anyone? Okay, park your car and get out. NOW you can smoke a cigarette. Wow. It is actually possible to drive without smoking. Who knew?
