1. Don't automatically reach for a cigarette as soon as you start feeling sad. Have a good cry first. Crying raises the level of serotonin in your brain, which leads to better moods. Put off having that usual cigarette for five minutes.
2. Remind yourself that having a cigarette will not SOLVE whatever it is that's making you sad. Breathing 4,000 chemicals into your body will NOT make whatever's bothering you go away.
