The Location Trigger
Certain physical locations can remind you of smoking. Use these steps to keep you committed to quitting smoking:
1. Leave Your Cigarettes Behind
When you go to a place where you usually smoke, don’t take your cigarettes. That way you won’t be able to automatically start smoking.
2. Wait ’Til You Leave
If you have to hang out there, don’t actually smoke there. Wait until you leave and then light up a cigarette. It helps your brain break the “glue” between that place and smoking by waiting as long as possible to have a cigarette.
3. Find A Distraction
If a craving or urge to smoke begins while you are in a smoking place, try to distract yourself until the urge passes. This could be a great time to use the EX mobile site or Ex iPhone App. It has lots of on-the-go distractions like videos and games to get your mind off cigarettes until the craving passes.
