The Jerk-Face Boss Trigger
Stresses from your boss and your job can make anyone scream. But for smokers trying to quit smoking, it can be a trigger to light. Here’s how to re-learn working with your difficult boss without a cigarette. It will help you when quit day rolls around and you actually quit smoking.
1. Take A Deep Breath
When the boss does something mean or irritating, take a few deep breaths. Of air. Not smoke. Tell yourself you’ll smoke in FIVE minutes. You’ll relax, the feeling will pass and you’ll see that you can actually get through one little battle without smoking.
2. Let Off Some Steam
Next time the boss does something, wait 10 minutes before heading off for a cigarette. Call a friend first and tell them ALL the horrible details. It’ll let off some steam, and it’ll put some delay in between feeling stress and the usual cigarette that you have right afterward.
3. Relieve Some Stress
Check out this site. Before things get unbearable, take a few minutes to, as they say, “bliss out.” And go through a few of these stress relief exercises until the urge has passed.
