The Paying Bills Trigger

Paying bills can cause stress for anyone. For smokers, paying bills can also trigger cravings to smoke. Remember that you’re trying to quit smoking. Here’s how to fight off the cravings:

1. Wait ’Til You’re Done
Break that “glue.” Don’t start smoking as soon as you start writing a check. Wait until AFTER you’re finished paying everything to have a cigarette.

2.  Change Your Routine
Pay your bills in another room. Heck, pay ’em at work or in a public place. Just not in a place that reminds you of cigarettes.

3.  Replace Your Ashtray
Keep sugarless candy or gum where you used to set your ashtray.

4.  Make It Easier
Pay online. It’s easier than sending in checks and can be done automatically. It can take some of the stress out of bill paying.

5.  Reduce Your Stress
Having some extra money never hurts when it’s time to pay the bills. Visit this site for tips that might ease some of the stress.
