Build Support System Tool
Just like when you set out on a long hike or even a short stroll, having the right people around you matters. Their mood, their attitude, their own skills and supplies they have in their packs all make a difference on how much you enjoy your trek and feel equipped to take on challenges.
Family and friends can be a huge help when you're quitting — or they can be tobacco triggers. Think about the people you know who will support you at home, out socializing, and at work. Think about which people won't. Chances are, you won't be able to avoid the people who aren't supportive, so prepare yourself with what to say and an exit strategy ahead of time when you know you're going to be around them. Don't let them be the reason you start smoking, vaping, dipping or chewing again.
Take a few moments to think about and write your answers to each of the following questions:
- Who will you trust for support at home? At work?
- Who will be most helpful?
- Who should you avoid for a while?
