No matter why you started or why you're ready to stop, we're here to help.
Maybe you picked up an e-cigarette to quit smoking cigarettes. Or maybe you started vaping even though you weren't a smoker. Regardless, EX has tools for you.
How to Quit E-cigarettes
Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is addictive. It also makes quitting e-cigarettes similar (but not 100% the same) as quitting regular cigarettes or other tobacco products.
While not as much research has been done about how to quit e-cigarettes, tons of research has been done to help adults quit nicotine. Here's what we know works:
- Being ready to tackle the physical addiction
Understanding your triggers (people, places or events that make you want to vape), making plans to cope with those triggers in ways other than vaping, and being prepared to manage withdrawal symptoms and stressors will all make quitting easier than going at it unprepared.
Think of these exercises as the map to climbing a mountain—it won't get you there on its own, but it sure helps to have in your pocket before you set out.
- Having support from others
Someone to lean on when times get tough. Someone to ask questions (even in the middle of the night). Someone to celebrate with when you're feeling proud! Someone who gets what you're going through, ups and downs and in-betweens.
Climbing a mountain is less lonely and more fun when you’ve got a buddy or two. Plus, you’re less likely to slip—and if you do, there’s someone there to help you get back up.
- Using quit medications
Quitting medications can make the quitting process much more comfortable, and increase your chance of success. When you’re feeling more in control, you can focus on the things that matter to you and the reasons you want to quit in the first place.
You’d bring an oxygen tank with you on your mountain climb so that it’s easier to breathe when the air gets thin. Quitting medications make this climb a bit more manageable so you can actually enjoy the view along the way and get to the top.
